This activity serves to introduce the ‘big story’ of this fascinating unit on Revolutionary England.
Overviews are crucial in helping your pupils make sense of your curriculum.
You could use it in the first lesson of the unit, to help give students an overview.
Or, it would be a great homework activity: students could be tasked with reading the ‘story’ independently, and then answering the comprehension tasks at the end.
You could also use this alongside the knowledge Organiser. This would help your pupils know what the key terms like Revolution and Reformation actually mean.
Help introduce students to this 500 year period, and to the big themes and concepts that will be explored in the unit.
These include the huge changes that took in terms of political power, beliefs, discovery, art and culture.
Introduce them, too, to the focus on change that is threaded through the unit, by asking them to identify some of the changes and the continuities that are addressed in the activity itself.
