As you know we love an enquiry led mystery. This short enquiry has all of the characteristics of a classic. The personal story of a celebrity hairdresser. A dark secret, hypothesising, the dripping in of evidence, the use of an interpretation which has evidence omitted. Neil and I taught this recently and it worked a treat.
You ask students to use a range of evidence to work out the role played by celebrity hairdresser, Vidal Sassoon in the story of British fascism. They will go from initial guess work to formulating, testing and refining their hypotheses. This enquiry fits in to year 9 work on the 30s or in the 1940s!
