Kids, cash and Catholics – how would you have coped in the role of Henry VIII?
Updated for 2020, this simulation makes use of a decision making activity to give students an introduction to the reign of King Henry VIII. Start by looking at two negative interpretations of Henry VIII. Â Your students will then be required to grapple with many of the issues faced by the King.
It is best run as a team-based activity. It can be used as a competitive introduction to the topic of the Break with Rome.
It serves to deepen students’ appreciation of the motives of Henry and combats the all too common problem of students seeing him as a cartoon character who simply spent his time be-heading a string of wives.
