Wow! I have just returned from the launch of a fantastic website which will help you update and enliven your lessons on World War Two.

Funded by the National Lottery, the brilliant local studies team at Worthing Library led by the visionary Martin Hayes have got together the impossible. A massive archive of material on World War Two. The collection includes hundreds of short eye-witness interviews, thousands of photographs, a local newspaper archiv searchable any which way you like and three adapted case studies to help you personal your teaching of the Home Front. I was have been lucky enough to help create the free and downloadable lesson ideas and resources (click here and scroll down to the case studies).  But this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg – more like the tiny icicle hanging off of the top of the tip of the iceberg.

This is a treasure chest of resources. If you need photographs and source material  for an enquiry into the Land Girls,or a source material on the Home Guard, The Battle of Britain, evacuation, Dunkirk… this is the place to go.

Well done Martin and team. This is an excellent piece of work which bought together young and old in the community and has saved rare archive material which would otherwise have been lost in time.
