Elizabeth faced a number of domestic challenges from Catholics, beginning with the Revolt of the Northern Earls and ending with the Babbington Plot and the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots.
But just how dangerous a threat were these events?
Your students are tasked with advising a documentary maker on how to allocate time during a TV programme on the Catholic threat.
Which event merits the most airtime?
You start by recapping the Revolt of the Northern Earls. Next, compare the threat posed by the Revolt with the Ridolfi, Throckmorton and Babington plots.
Then using a range of criteria, your class will create radar charts to help visualise the level of domestic support, foreign involvement, organisation and involvement from Mary, Queen of Scots in each of these events.
