This lesson has been adapted for younger pupils from the OCR Crime and Punishment Through Time book by Richard McFahn and Chris Culpin.
Using the skill of storytelling, the class have to decide how Cedric will be punished.
They then delve into the past to discover that Saxon punishments, policing and trials were much more complicated and thoughtful than we are led to believe.
The pupils use either their thinking skills, or alternatively, their acting skills to work out Cedric’s fate.
